China will likely introduce new positive export policy in late 2015 to support exports of high-end steel products.

SHANGHAI, Jan. 7 (SMM) – China will likely introduce new positive export policy in late 2015 to support exports of high-end steel products.

News reported that China Iron & Steel Association has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Commerce for raising export rebate tax on cold-rolled, galvanized and oriented silicon steel products.

The elimination of export rebate tax on boron-added steel products from Jan 1, 2015 has showed Chinese government’s encouragement in exports of high value-added products.

Exports of galvanized products will enjoy benefits if the proposal is approved, SMM foresees.

During the first eleven months of 2014, exports of boron-containing steel products involved in this round of tax adjustment roughly account for 31% of China’s total steel exports, according to Customs data.

In the same period, exports of galvanized plate were 6.91 million tonnes, an 8.2% share in China’s total steel exports. The export proportion of galvanized plate occupies nearly 20% of China’s total galvanized plate output, according to SMM data.
