Northern Europe HRC Steel prices remain flat in week ending Oct. 24

Northern Europe hot rolled cold (HRC) steel prices remained flat week-on-week to €423 per ton in the week ended October 24 this year, as per the latest figures released by The Steel Index.

LONDON (Scrap Register): Northern Europe hot rolled cold (HRC) steel prices remained flat week-on-week to €423 per ton in the week ended October 24 this year, as per the latest figures released by The Steel Index. 
 
According to TSI, spot HR coil prices in Europe were largely stable last week despite a dearth of market activity. 
 
Steel producers in Northern Europe are attempting to hold offer prices as H1 2015 contract negotiations commence in the coming weeks. 
 
In Southern Europe, recent reductions in offer prices are yet to entice buyers from the sidelines. 
 
Even with Arvedi temporarily absent from the market, spot prices trended slightly down as TSI’s South European HRC index finished the week at €415 a ton.
