TAIPEI (Scrap Register): The prices for containerized Taiwanese imports of HMS # 1&2 80:20 remained flat last week at $300 a ton in the absence of any ISRI grade transactions (TSI’s specification).
According to TSI, Japanese origin scrap is currently flavor of the month for Taiwanese mills, with Japanese origin basic grade scrap available at below $300 a ton, which has now combined with the effects of cheap Chinese billet to lower prices.
ISRI grade scrap suppliers are face tough times ahead if current raw material buying habits continue.
