TAIPEI (Scrap Register): The prices for containerized Taiwanese imports of HMS #1&2 80:20 continued to remain flat at $300 a ton (CFR Taiwan port) in the week ended October 17th, as per The Steel Index.
According to TSI, prices for containerized Taiwanese imports of HMS # 1&2 80:20 remained unchanged due to the measures being taken by the Taiwanese government to reduce imports of Chinese-origin billet, mills have tentatively returned to purchasing imported scrap.
US origin sales early in the week showed pricing edging up slightly, but subsequent sales of Japanese origin scrap at lower prices effectively served to kill off any sustained rise in scrap prices.
