NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States shredded scrap prices remained flat week-on-week to $360 a long ton (delivered mill) in the week ended October 17, as per The Steel Index.

According to TSI, trade was quieter following the conclusion of October’s negotiations last week.

However, a number of US East Coast cargoes were sold into Turkey this week which could perhaps be an indication that yards are expecting further weakness in the US domestic scrap market in the coming weeks.

This follows sentiment largely turning bearish is the US domestic finished steel market.
