Chalco's Henan Branch delayed its production resumption at its 1,000,000-tonne alumina capacity, Shanghai Metals Market learns.

SHANGHAI, Oct. 17 (SMM) – Chalco's Henan Branch delayed the production resumption at its 1,000,000-tonne alumina capacity, Shanghai Metals Market learns.

The delay is mainly because the repairing of its red mud pond has not been completed, sources reported.

The company closed a total of 1,600,000 tonnes of alumina capacities due to the leaks from red mud pond in mid September.

It restarted 600,000-tpy alumina production in late September, and scheduled to put back online the rest capacities in early October.
