NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States shredded scrap prices continued to drop by $3 a long ton week-on-week to $360 a long ton (delivered mill) in the week ended October 10, as per The Steel Index.

According to TSI, buying continued into the second week of the month, with significant regional disparity in prices.

Chicago dealers were amongst the last to settle their purchases with reports that material was sold as low as $355 a long ton, whilst in other regions shredded was heard changing hands in the region of $365 a long ton.

There was no large deterioration in prices as the week went on, aided by the resumption of exports out of the East coast early in the week.
