MUMBAI (Scrap Register): Domestic Indian HRC steel prices climbed back above the Rs. 42,000 a ton mark in September despite an increase in cheaper-priced import material arriving from Asia.
According to TSI, HRC index (DDP Mumbai) rose as high as Rs. 42,922 a ton mid-month before settling to Rs. 42,729 a ton (0.8% 4-week change) in the final week.
However, the downward trend in Asian steel prices continued as TSI’s daily ASEAN HRC index collapsed by $38 a ton over the course of September.
