TAIPEI (Scrap Register): The prices for containerized Taiwanese imports of HMS #1&2 80:20 remained flat at $300 a ton (CFR Taiwan port) in the week ended October 10, as per The Steel Index.

According to TSI, prices for containerized Taiwanese imports of HMS # 1&2 80:20 remained flat last week as the market ended several weeks of heavy price falls.

Somewhat inevitably, mills have now moved to try and block the influx of Chinese billet into the country, with exporters now required to supply additional documentation that will perhaps perturb some from continuing trade billet into Taiwan.

Most Taiwanese mills have currently halted scrap purchases whilst the Taiwanese Government decides the fate of Chinese billet purchased before the regulation came into force.
