ANKARA (Scrap Register): Turkish HMS 1/2 80:20 scrap import prices (CFR Iskenderun Port, Turkey) dropped further by $6 a ton week-on-week to $344 a ton in the week ended October 10, as per the latest figures released by the The Steel Index.

According to TSI, the daily benchmark index for deep-sea Turkish imports of HMS #1&2 80:20 fell by $3 a ton from last Friday, to finish the week at $342 a ton CFR Iskenderun port.

The rapid decline in prices seen over the last few weeks seems to have lost some of its momentum, perhaps hinting that participants feel the bottom of market lies at around the $340 a ton level.

However, upon their return from Eid holidays, traders were still not buying cargoes in any large numbers which suggests a continued lack of confidence in finished steel sales.
