ANKARA (Scrap Register): Turkish HMS 1/2 80:20 scrap import average prices (CFR Iskenderun Port, Turkey) slipped by $1 a ton week-on-week to $382 a ton in the week ended September 12, as per the latest figures released by the The Steel Index.
According to TSI, the daily benchmark prices for deep-sea Turkish imports of HMS #1&2 80:20 remained at $383 a ton CFR Turkish port last week until Friday, when it fell $4 a ton to finish the week at $379 a ton.
With the dollar continuing to strengthen, making purchases in Euros more expensive, buyers chose to bide their time early in the week as they sought to find a new pricing level they were comfortable with against the backdrop of these currency fluctuations.
Activity at the very end of the week, however, indicated a significantly lower price level may have been established.
