ANKARA (Scrap Register): Turkish HMS 1/2 80:20 scrap import average prices (CFR Iskenderun Port, Turkey) rose by $6 a ton week-on-week to $381 a ton in the week ended August 01st this year, as per the latest figures released by the The Steel Index.

However, the daily benchmark index for deep-sea Turkish imports of HMS #1&2 80:20 rose $5 a ton from last Friday to finish the week at $381 a ton as volatility finally returned to the market.

A couple of trades were heard completed late last Friday and at the beginning of the week at significantly higher levels than had been seen previously, before an ex- Baltic cargo was seen secured midweek at similar levels.

Traders returned from Eid to find the market had heated up significantly with a lack of supply across Europe again being the main talking point, and US suppliers eyeing up even higher prices.
