Demand Picks Up, But Aluminum Prices in East China Still Down (Aug. 1, 2014)

Spot aluminum largely traded between RMB 13,940-13,950/mt in Shanghai on Friday, a discount of RMB 30-40/mt over SHFE 1408 aluminum contract.

SHANGHAI, Aug. 1 (SMM) - Spot aluminum largely traded between RMB 13,940-13,950/mt in Shanghai on Friday, a discount of RMB 30-40/mt over SHFE 1408 aluminum contract. Mainstream traded prices were RMB 13,950-13,960/mt in Wuxi and RMB 13,960-13,970/mt in Hangzhou. Weak SHFE 1408 aluminum contract sent spot aluminum prices down RMB 30/mt. Downstream producers went bargain hunting ahead of the weekend.
