LONDON (Scrap Register): Southern Europe hot rolled cold (HRC) steel prices rose by €2 per ton week-on-week to €410 per ton in the week ended July 18th this year, as per the latest figures released by the The Steel Index.
Summer’s lull appears to have left European steel demand moribund, with spot prices for HR coil hovering at or close to 12-month lows. HR coil delivery lead-times across Europe are 6-7 weeks from order.
Meanwhile, the latest swap trade (basis TSI) saw July & August contracts cleared at €420.5 a ton last night, according to a Londonbased brokerage.
