LIMA (Scrap Monster): Peru got the third position among the top five silver producing countries in the world. Once it was the global leader of silver production but now it is comes third with total production of about 118,122,000 ounces.
The country has some large primary silver producing mines.
Silver is produced greatly from Antamina, the largest mine in the country which primarily a copper mine. The silver here is produced as the by-product.
Another largest silver producing mines in Peru is Chungar, which is primarily zinc producing mine.
In 2009, Peru reported a record production of silver of about 126 million ounces and there after it has faced three consecutive declines.
But in 2103, the country rebounded back and it is expecting silver production of around 120 million ounces.
