Chile's Silver Mining Surges by 38% in 2014

The silver production in Chile has increased by 38% in first five months of 2014 while comparing to the same period in last year.

SANTIAGO (Scrap Monster): The silver production in Chile has increased by 38% in first five months of 2014 while comparing to the same period in last year.

Though Chile stands at the top of the copper production in the world, it has become one of the globe's top ten producers in the world.

As per the official report, the silver production in the state owned company Portal Minero has reached 144 tons, 40 more than last year and the firm expects to produce 300 to 600 tons of the precious metal this year.

Most mining in Chile is concentrated to the Norte Granderegion spanning most of the Atacama Desert. Mining products of Chile includes copper, gold, silver,molybdenum, iron and coal.
