NEW DELHI (Scrap Monster): Indian customs officers have nabbed more than 1 kilogram illegal gold worth almost RS 36 lakh from three passengers who arrived in different flights at Karipur International Airport.

According to police officials, on Thursday, 234 grams of illicit gold was grabbed from a woman passenger who arrived by a Dubai-Calicut Emirates flight and 625 grams of illicit gold was seized from a male passenger who arrived by an Air India Express Abu Dhabi-Calicut flight.

About 233 grams of gold was seized from a male passenger who had arrived by an Air India Express Dubai-Calicut flight on Wednesday late night.

It is reported that the smugglers transmit gold mainly from gulf countries like Dubai and Sharjah, where the precious metal is cheaper than other countries.
