SHANGHAI, June 5 (SMM) – In the Shanghai physical market, copper was offered Thursday at a RMB 400-550/mt premium over the SHFE front-month copper contract. Traded prices were RMB 49,880-50,000/mt for standard-quality copper and RMB 49,960-50,100/mt for high-quality copper. As SHFE copper prices hovered at low levels, cargo holders moved goods steadily. Premiums for high-quality copper rose slightly with higher market proportion, while prices for standard-quality copper and hydro-copper held firm. Middlemen expressed lower buying interest, while downstream producers continued to stay on the sidelines, with thin trading volumes on Thursday.
