SMM, CMRA Launch China Secondary Metal Pricing Platform

SHANGHAI, Apr. 29 (SMM) – In cooperation with China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association Recycling Metal Branch (CMRA), Shanghai Metals Market is launching a secondary metal pricing platform this week, after three months’ trial run.

The platform www.smm.cn/secondary/index.php publishes prices for 87 categories of secondary copper, aluminium, lead and tin, and aims to facilitate trading in those products with more online services in the future.

China’s production of secondary copper, aluminium, lead and zinc totaled 10.73 million tonnes in 2013, representing a year-on-year increase of 3.3%, according to CMRA’s latest research report. China is also the world's largest secondary metal importer.
