NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States shredded scrap prices dropped slightly by 0.2% week-on-week at $402 a long ton in the week ended April 28th this year, as per the latest figures released by the The Steel Index.
The US market has seen a downturn in gate prices at the dockside as the Turkish scrap imports market has cooled. Whether this dynamic will come into play in domestic pricing we will see over the next few days.
The domestic steel market is strong, but that ‘pull’ may be offset by increased scrap supply. TSI’s Midwest shred price was largely unmoved last week, down a dollar to $402 a long ton, but buy-week is looming.
