SINGAPORE (Scrap Register): ASEAN hot rolled cold (HRC) steel import prices (CFR ASEAN port) gained by $5 per ton week-on-week to $550 per ton in the week ended April 11th this year, as per the latest figures released by The Steel Index.

A relatively quiet week in the ASEAN market, as Chinese mills returned to the market with offers only mid-week after a national holiday on Monday.

Chinese-origin SAE grades were offered between $550-555 a ton and SS400 grades in the $520-525 ton range (CFR ASEAN Port).

With Chinese HR coil prices up US$5-10/t from one week ago, buyers are considering offers from elsewhere in North Asia and the Indian Sub-continent.
