Chinalco Restarts Commissioning Operations of Toromocho Project in Peru

Chinalco Mining Corporation International resumed commissioning operations of its Peru’s Toromocho project which had been suspended in late March due to water discharge issue.

SHANGHAI, Apr. 14 (SMM) – Chinalco Mining Corporation International resumed commissioning operations of its Peru’s Toromocho project which had been suspended in late March due to water discharge issue.

Minera Chinalco Perú S.A., Chinalco’s wholly-owned subsidiary carrying out the development of the Toromocho project, completed optimization and improvement of its water management system on April 10, 2014. Chinalco restarted commissioning of the Toromocho project on April 11, 2014 following a resolution issued by the Environmental Evaluation and Audit branch of the Peruvian Ministry of Environment that day, it told Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Chinalco would continue to work towards the target schedule of reaching full production capacity in the third quarter of 2014 and its production and operational plan for the year of 2014, it said.
