LONDON (Scrap Register): Southern Europe hot rolled cold (HRC) steel prices declined by 1.1% week-on-week to €436 per in the week ended February 14th this year, as per the latest figures released by the The Steel Index.

According to TSI, spot prices for HR coil in Europe witnessed small declines this week as steel producers failed to secure deals close to their asking prices.

In Italy, spot transactions were reported as low as €430 a ton on Friday with major producers still holding offers close to the €450 ton mark.

North European HR coil swaps (basis TSI) traded Jul-Aug for €450 a ton with the front-end of the forward curve increasingly flat relative to the daily index price.
