China Stainless Steel Output May Exceed 25 Million Mt in 2020

 

In foreign countries, 11%~13% Cr stainless steel is applied for body shell for bus, coal transport vehicle, and sanitizer, and others. In 2012, China’s automobile output and sales were 19.27 million and 19.31 million vehicles, respectively. The figure is expected to exceed 20 million vehicles. If one vehicle consumes 30 kg of stainless steel, approximately 600,000 mt of stainless steel will be needed per year.   

 

Stainless steel products have a promising prospect for environmental protection applications, such as water treatment, flue gas desulfurization unit, garbage furnace, etc. China’s stainless steel output may exceed 25 million mt by 2020, and apparent consumption will reach 20 million mt, to become world’s major stainless steel producer and consumer.
