SMM Brief on SHFE Aluminum Futures: Prices Slip on Inactive Trading Activity (2013-7-30)

SHFE 1310 aluminum contract opened lower at RMB 14,280/mt on Tuesday.

SHANGHAI, Jul. 30 (SMM) – SHFE 1310 aluminum contract opened lower at RMB 14,280/mt on Tuesday. The most active contract was mired due to inactive trading activity, but did find support at RMB 14,250/mt. SHFE three-month aluminum contract closed RMB 30/mt or 0.21% lower at RMB 14,250/mt. Positions contracted 154 lots to 63,732 lots, but trading volumes increased by 106 lots to 5,398 lots. SHFE aluminum for October delivery will remain stagnant at RMB 14,250/mt tomorrow as investors will pull out of the market on the last day of the month.
