20,491 meters of transmission line (≥220 kV) was built in H1, 2013, up 23.82% YoY. Producers doubt whether power grid construction will continue to maintain double-digit growth in the future.

SHANGHAI, Jul. 24 (SMM) – 20,491 meters of transmission line (≥220 kV) was built in H1, 2013, up 23.82% YoY. 10,011 meters of transmission line (≥220 kV) was constructed in June, according to China Electricity Council (CEC).

Power grid construction began to enter a peak season in June. Investment in power grid construction across China amounted to RMB 165.9 billion in H1, 2013, up 19.07% YoY.

However, current power grid construction only reflects order books at aluminum wire and cable producers over the past period. This is because the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) typically purchases wire and cable several months in advance. Producers doubt whether power grid construction will continue to maintain double-digit growth in the future.
