Yunnan Chihong's Lead and Zinc Mine Halted after Fire Kills Seven

A mining unit of Yunnan Chihong Zn & Ge Co. was halted from production after a fire accident killed seven.

SHANGHAI, Jul. 9 (SMM) - A subsidiary of Yunnan Chihong Zinc & Germanium Co. was halted from mining after a fire accident killed seven.

Broken electric cable caused a fire in a lead and zinc mine of the unit Xinbarhu You Banner Rongda Mining Ltd. on Sunday, June 23, Yunnan Chihong told Shanghai Stock Exchange today.

The mine was suspended after the accident and would remain so for the next six to twelve months, it said.

Rongda’s mineral processing center remained open as ores there could last till the end of this month, it added.

Mined ores at Rongda were 382,800 tons between January and June, comparing to 388,200 tons a year ago.
