South China Aluminum: Consumption Sluggish, Pessimism Permeates

The most active SHFE aluminum contract opened lower on Monday, vulnerable at RMB 14,200/mt.

SHANGHAI, Jul. 8 (SMM) – The most active SHFE aluminum contract opened lower on Monday, vulnerable at RMB 14,200/mt. Traders in south China largely held back goods against falling stocks, but downstream producers stayed out of the market, driving mainstream traded prices down to RMB 14,600/mt. The market was dominated by bearish sentiment.
