Silicon Metal Supply Negatively Affected by Power Restriction in Xichang

SHANGHAI, Jun. 17 (SMM) – According to SMM sources, power supply in Xichang fell short recently due to the malfunction of the transformer in one local power plant. In response, the local government started restricting power supply to equalize power supply, which negatively affected production at silicon metal producers. Some producers reported significant output decline. Some producers planning to resume production in mid-June also postponed their resumption schedule due to the tight power supply.
