China Manganese Ore Market Movement (2013-4-11)
Apr 11, 2013 15:57Vale S.A. announced April 8 that it has been granted the operational license (LO) of Pier IV in the Ponta da Madeira (PDM) maritime terminal in the state of Maranhão, Brazil.
SHANGHAI, Apr. 11 (SMM) -
Domestic market:
Transaction volumes and prices of spot manganese ore at ports were stable. SMM data indicate that CIF prices for imported manganese ore rose USD 0.05-0.1/mtu on expectations for rainy season in south China and rally of finished steel consumption in April. Traders were cautious about purchasing.
Transactions:
In northern port, a small amount of manganese ore from Brazil and Gabon was traded. In southern port, Malaysian manganese ore was the most popular, followed by Australian manganese ore (granule). Recent arrivals in the Port of Tianjin are mainly high-grade Australian manganese ore (lump) from CML and BHP.
Summary:
Spot manganese ore prices at ports have stopped falling, but are still considered weak compared with CIF prices.
