China Silicomanganese Alloy Market Movement: Forecasts of Hebei Iron & Steel April Silicomanganese Alloy Procurement Price (2013-3-28)

SMM sources report Hebei Iron & Steel started bidding for silicomanganese alloy procurement in April, with purchasing volume down 3,500 mt.
SHANGHAI, Mar. 28 (SMM) – SMM sources report Hebei Iron & Steel started bidding for silicomanganese alloy procurement in April, with purchasing volume down 3,500 mt. That is because of maintenance at Tangshan Iron & Steel and Chengde Iron & Steel. According to SMM sources, steel prices continued to fall due to high crude steel output, sluggish end-user demand and massive trading inventories. In this context, both purchase volume and price by steel plants are pessimistic. Coupled with falling manganese ore and coke prices, Hebei Iron & Steel will lower silicomanganese alloy procurement prices, with declines of RMB 50/mt.
