Daily average crude steel output from January to February 2013 reached a record high of 2.13 million mt.
SHANGHAI, Mar. 22 (SMM) – Daily average crude steel output from January to February 2013 reached a record high of 2.13 million mt. As capacity grows, oversupply improved. Steel inventories stand high, and steel prices continue to fluctuate at low levels. Besides, steel futures prices are expected to fall due to tightened regulations to the property market, soaring crude steel output, sluggish downstream demand and steel plants lowering prices.
Silicomanganese alloy prices moved steadily. Prices in north China were RMB 6,800-7,000/mt (ex-works, including tax, by acceptance); prices in south China were RMB 6,850-6,950/mt (ex-works, including tax, by acceptance). Falling manganese ore prices and weakening steel market both weighed down the silicomanganese alloy market.
