SHANGHAI, Mar. 22 (SMM) – The Ministry of Land and Resources (MLR) announced March 18 that Chalco Mining has obtained exploration rights for Yushan bauxite (Nazhuang District) in Henan’s Xin’an County at a cost of RMB 924,900.

The Henan Institute of Geological Survey announced discovery of 23.58 million mt of proven bauxite in Yushan, Xin’an County, Henan, along with 431.30 mt of gallium.

As subsidiary of Aluminum Corporation of China (Chalco), Chalco Mining will supply bauxite to Chalco’s Henan and Zhongzhou branches, easing bauxite shortages for these two Henan-based alumina companies.

Chalco (Henan) and Chalco (Zhongzhou) represent a combined alumina capacity of over 4 million mt/yr, with annual demand for bauxite above 8 million mt.
