China Silicomanganese Alloy Market Movement: Silicomanganese Alloy Price Remains Weak Due to Sufficient Supply (2013-3-11)

SHANGHAI, Mar. 11 (SMM) – Steel prices continued to fall. But as due to improving weather and increasing downstream demand, and combined with steel plants raising ex-works prices, domestic steel prices dropped more slowly and inventories also grew at a slower pace. Domestic steel prices will likely rebound slightly this week.
Domestic silicomanganese alloy market remained steady. Steel plants mostly lowered March procurement prices by RMB 100-150/mt. SMM sources report that procurement prices by steel plants were concentrated between RMB 7,150-7,200/mt. Quotes for SiMn 65/17 in north China were RMB 6,850-7,050/mt (ex-works, including tax, by acceptance), and in south China were RMB 6,900-7,100/mt (ex-works, including tax, by acceptance).
