SHANGHAI, Mar. 11 (SMM) – SHFE three-month zinc contract prices opened low today. Discounts of #0 zinc against SHFE 1305 zinc contract prices narrowed to RMB 180-200/mt, with traded prices between RMB 14,970-14,980/mt. #1 zinc prices were RMB 14,940-14,960/mt. Smelters continued to hold goods, while arbitrage traders moved goods due to narrowing discounts. But downstream buying interest was low, and operations at some downstream enterprises in north China were restricted as they fell short of environmental protection treatment requirements. In this context, overall transactions did not improve.
