China Silicomanganese Alloy Market Movement: Low SiMn 65/17 and SiMn 60/14 Prices (2013-3-5)

As steel plants generally slashed purchasing prices for silicomanganese alloy for March, spot silicomanganese alloy prices trended slightly down.
SHANGHAI, Mar. 5 (SMM) – As steel plants generally slashed purchasing prices for silicomanganese alloy for March, spot silicomanganese alloy prices trended slightly down. Mainstream traded prices for SiMn 65/17 in Inner Mongolia were between RMB 7,000-7,050/mt, RMB 6,900-6,950/mt in Gansu, and RMB 6,850-6,900/mt in Ningxia (all ex-work prices including tax and by acceptance). However, SiMn 65/17 prices saw no major changes in south China. Silicomanganese alloy supply was relatively tight owing to sluggish downstream demand. Ex-work prices (including tax) for SiMn 60/14 were RMB 5,850-5,950/mt in Guangxi, and RMB 5,950-6,000/mt in Hunan.
