Transactions and Quotations for NPI Rare Ahead of Holiday ((2013-2-4))

SHANGHAI, Feb. 4 (SMM) – Mainstream traded prices for high-grade NPI (Ni 10-15%) were between RMB 1,140-1,160/mtu on Monday, traded prices for medium-grade NPI (Ni 6-8%) were between RMB 1,165-1,175/mtu, while those for medium-grade NPI (Ni 4-6%) were between RMB 1,170-1,180/mtu, and for low-grade NPI (1.6-1.7%) were between RMB 2,950-3,000/mt.
Although LME nickel prices showed strong trends, trading activity was dull with the approach of the Chinese New Year holiday. SMM has confirmed that many enterprises were collecting payments and goods newly ordered will be delivered after the holiday. Several high-grade NPI producers raised ex-works prices by RMB 10-20/mtu, but no transactions were made at high prices.
