China Silicomanganese Alloy Market Movement: Some Silicomanganese Alloy Producers in North China Raise Quotes (2013-1-4)

After Hebei Iron & Steel raised silicomanganese alloy bidding prices by RMB 50/mt in January, quotes in south China were up, but traded prices did not change significantly.
SHANGHAI, Jan. 4 (SMM) – After Hebei Iron & Steel raised silicomanganese alloy bidding prices by RMB 50/mt in January, quotes in south China were up, but traded prices did not change significantly.
Silicomanganese alloy producers in Ningxia, Inner Mongolia and Shanxi raised their quotes by RMB 50/mt. But according to SMM sources, most of them maintained prices for regular customers unchanged. Spot silicomanganese alloy supply is now sufficient, and producers are actively generating cash. Due to pessimism, traders are cautious. In general, silicomanganese alloy prices are expected to remain steady.
Shandong Iron & Steel increased bidding volume for January by 1,100 mt, but goods supply is sufficient. Shandong Iron & Steel has adjusted prices to RMB 7,400/mt (price-to-factory, by acceptance) in December. SMM predicts silicomanganese alloy bidding prices should remain steady in January.
