In China’s manganese ore market, inquiries were quiet after the new year holiday.
SHANGHAI, Jan. 4 (SMM) -- In China’s manganese ore market, inquiries were quiet after the new year holiday, which was mainly due to lower purchasing interest from Si-Mn alloy producers following lower-than-expected procurement prices from steel mills. It was reported, manganese ore held by traders were limited. Some small and medium traders almost had no goods in hand, and they also had sourcing difficulties for futures manganese ore amid rising prices from overseas market. Some traders would consider importing goods from non-mainstream suppliers such as Chile and North Africa.
It was reported that around 150,000 mt of manganese ore from Brazil, and South Africa will arrive at port.
Transactions were limited amid cautious sentiment in the market.
