China Silicomanganese Alloy Market Movement: Pessimistic SiMn 60/14 Market (2012-12-24)

Silicomanganese alloy market was steady today.
SHANGHAI, Dec. 24 (SMM) – Silicomanganese alloy market was steady today. The SiMn 65/17 market took a wait-and-see attitude awaiting the release of bidding prices from steel plants. SiMn 60/14 prices dropped slightly. Prices in Guangxi were RMB 5,450-5,600/mt, prices in Guilin were concentrated around RMB 5,600/mt, and traded prices in Baise and Chongzuo were RMB 5,450-5,500/mt, with RMB 5,400/mt reported.
SMM sources report demand for SiMn 60/14 shrank recently as small and medium-sized steel plants cut output. On the supply side, operating rates at Yongzhou, Hunan province rose recently, with nearly half enterprises restarting production, causing spot goods supply to increase sharply. Guangxi market was thus impacted. With weakening demand and expectations that electricity prices in Guangxi will be lowered, SiMn 60/14 market is pessimistic.
