China Manganese Ore Market Movement (2012-11-15)

As inquires were brisk and since supply was tight, most traders increased offers of manganese ore.
SHANGHAI, Nov. 15 (SMM) -- As inquires were brisk and since supply was tight, most traders increased offers. However, downstream producers’ price acceptance was low. SMM expects that prices for manganese ore shall rise by RMB 05-1/mtu in the short term, prices for Australian lump and granules that were in severe supply shortage will rise b RMB 1-2/mtu.
In north ports, as mainstream South African mixed carbonate manganese ore were held by on a few large traders and alloy producers, offers of such grade manganese ore rose to RMB 38/mtu. In south ports, inquires and transactions for long-term contract manganese ore increased. SMM believes that it may be risky to replenish long-term contract manganese ore since market outlook is not clear.
