Oct 30, 2012 (Dow Jones) SANTIAGO, Chile--Chilean copper mine Dona Ines de Collahuasi tapped Jorge Gomez, an executive at state copper giant Corporacion Nacional del Cobre de Chile, as its new chief executive officer, the company said Tuesday.
Collahuasi, one of the world's largest copper mines, ran into production setbacks in 2011 and 2012 reducing its output by about a third.
Mr. Gomez, who before joining Codelco served as general manager at Antofagasta PLC's (ANTO.LN) Los Pelambres mine, will take his post on December 19, the mining company said in a statement.
Collahuasi is controlled by Anglo American PLC (AAUKY, AAL.LN)and Xstrata PLC (XTA.LN), each of which holds a 44% stake. A consortium led by Mitsui & Co. (MITSY, 8031.TO) holds the rest.
