80% Capacity at Large Lead & Zinc Smelters in Hechi Recovers

SHANGHAI, Oct. 23 (SMM) – According to Hechi Bureau of Statistics, Hechi city in Guangxi, which holds abundant metals, produced 7,692 mt in refined lead during September, down 38% YoY. YTD lead output through September was 61,517 mt, down 47% YoY.

The Committee of Industry & Information Technology of Hechi explained that local government conducted overhaul of nonferrous metal industry in the city after the Longjiang pollution incident. An estimated 80% of capacity at large lead and zinc smelters in Hechi has recovered. Thus, the decline in lead output should be mitigated gradually.
