China Imported Manganese Ore Market (2012-10-17)

Traded prices were largely flat and trading volumes of imported manganese ore did not change much from a day earlier.
SHANGHAI, Oct.17 (SMM) – Traded prices were largely flat and trading volumes of imported manganese ore did not change much from a day earlier. According to SMM sources, mainstream offers of manganese ore were firm at ports. Most traders at south China ports were reluctant to move goods at current low prices, anticipating of higher prices in the future, but some traders were pessimistic towards SiMn alloy market outlook.
In north China port, traded prices of South Africa manganese ore (Mn32%, Fe18%) were between RMB 37.5-38/mtu, while transactions of Australia manganese ore (Mn 29%, Fe20%) were restricted. In south China port, there were almost no transactions of Australia manganese ore due to limited supply. It is expected that this grade manganese ore will arrive at port in late October, which may ease tight supply pressure by then.
