SHANGHAI, Oct.16 (SMM) – Inquires for imported manganese ore were brisk but transactions were muted in south China ports. Supply of goods was limited in the market, while sentiment was mixed. Some traders were pessimistic towards demand from downstream alloy producers, but some traders believed that prices would increase due to limited supply.
It was reported that BHP's 10,000 mt of mixed manganese carbonate ore (South Africa) arrived at South China ports, which were offered at RMB 38.5/mtu at ports and were moved fast. Supply of manganese lumps and fines from Brazil was tight in North China port as traders only imported goods based on orders received.
