Mar 27, 2012 (Bloomberg) - Rio Tinto Alcan said it’s no longer pursuing plans to develop an aluminum smelter in Sarawak in Malaysia after failing to reach an agreement on power supplies for the project.
"While a great deal of progress was made in negotiations with Sarawak Energy Bhd., agreement on a long-term competitive power supply contract could not be reached,” Rio Tinto Alcan Chief Executive Officer Jacynthe Cote said in a statement today.
