SHANGHAI, Jan.17 (SMM) – SHFE 1204 aluminum contract prices opened at RMB 16,235/mt on Tuesday. Prices then surged and moved above the moving averages with boosted market confidence and positive outlook for post-holiday market influenced by China’s GDP growth data for 2011. Spot aluminum prices in Nanhai were between RMB 16,070-16,090/mt. Most downstream enterprises have begun the Chinese New Year holiday, and only a few quotations were made by traders, leaving transactions quieter.
