Dollar Trades at Upper 77 Yen, Euro Falls on Downgrade Warning

The U.S. dollar traded in the upper 77 yen level and the euro fell against the yen and U.S. dollar Tuesday in Tokyo.

TOKYO, Dec. 7 -- The U.S. dollar traded in the upper 77 yen level and the euro fell against the yen and U.S. dollar Tuesday in Tokyo, after S&P's downgraded warning on eurozone countries for the debt crises.

At 5 p.m., the dollar traded at 77.75-77 yen against 77.77-87 yen in New York and 77.98-99 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Monday. It moved between 77.68 yen and 77.85 yen, changing hands most frequently at 77.77 yen.

The euro was quoted at 1.3348-3350 U.S. dollars and 103.78-82 yen versus 1.3395-3405 U.S. dollars and 104.23-33 yen in New York and 1.3446-3447 U.S. dollars and 104.85-89 yen in Tokyo late Monday afternoon.
