Chinese Stocks End Lower Friday, Extend Losses for Fourth Consecutive Day

Chinese stocks fell for the fourth consecutive day on Friday, as investors stayed cautious in the last trading day of the week, well ahead of the European Union summit meeting.

BEIJING, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks fell for the fourth consecutive day on Friday, as investors stayed cautious in the last trading day of the week, well ahead of the European Union summit meeting.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dipped 0.6 percent, or 14.09 points, to close at 2,317.28.

The Shenzhen Component Index slumped 1.01 percent, or 99.02 points, to close at 9,697.21, below the key 10,000 mark.
