SHANGHAI, Sept. 27 (SMM) – According to latest SMM survey, rare earths prices have been rising recently, but no significant improvement is seen for traded volumes. Except slight increases in praseodymium oxide and neodymium oxide prices, traded prices for rare earths differ from region to region. The slight increases are mainly attributed to purchases by Baogang Rare Earths International Trade Co., Ltd.
The rare earths market failed to maintain the improving trend in September, with transactions remaining sparse despite recent higher quotations. According to a source at a rare earth metals enterprise based in Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province, though rare earth quotations were lifted to some extent, the traded volumes did not improve much. A person working in a large rare earth enterprise in Baotou, Inner Mongolia said rare earths prices were not stable at present, and may even drop in contrast to the rising quotations at present.
